EVACUATIONS ORDERED
Evacuation orders were issued at 5:00 p.m. today (Saturday, December 12) for 44
residences in La Canada-Flintridge, La Crescenta and Big Tujunga due to the possibility
of debris flows resulting from current weather conditions in the area.

The evacuation orders have been issued as a safety precaution. They were issued
following a joint decision by the Foothills Incident Management Team Unified
Command, which includes LA County Public Works, Fire and Sheriff’s Departments.
Residents are urged to follow the evacuation orders and evacuate if told to do so.

An evacuation shelter has been set up at La Canada High School, 4463 Oak Grove
Avenue, La Canada. The evacuation is expected to remain in place through the duration
of the current rain event, which is forecast to end sometime Sunday, December 13.

The affected property owners were advised of possible evacuations earlier today. They
include 36 residences in La Canada-Flintridge, 6 in La Crescenta, and 2 in the Big
Tujunga area.

The Unified Command continues to closely monitor the situation. Additional evacuations
may be necessary. Residents in the burn areas are advised to tune into radio and
television broadcasts for further updates.
