What Were Learning

Reading:
Students are now working independently through
three of the Daily 5 centers (Read to Self, Work on
Writing, and Word Work)!
This week we focused on letters V-Z.
We sorted pictures of clothing and types of food.
We learned about main characters and can find
them in books!
We learned the poem Name Chant and learned
that we can read environmental print.
We learned two new sight words: is & a.
Math:
We started learning about Math Workshop. We
practiced how to do Math with Someone and
Math By Myself.
We counted objects and compared numbers to 10.
Writers Workshop:
We practiced drawing people to show actions.
We worked on stretching out words to hear all of
the sounds and writing them on our own.
We are preparing for our first Publishing Party,
which will be next Friday with Mrs. Helliges fifth
grade class.
We reviewed frog jump capital letters in
handwriting (ask your child what this means ).
Social Studies:
o We talked about how we can be handy helpers at
school and at home.
