Unit Name: New Mexico Landscape

How can I modernize landscape painting?
How can I realistically represent the landscape?

Students are familiar with landscape paintings that
theyve seen from popular culture and famous artists

Teacher: Images of contour drawings, landscape paintings
and drawings by various artists (OKeeffe, Cady Wells, Will
Karen Margulis, etc.)
Students: Large, good quality watercolor paper,
acrylic paint, brushes, cups, rags, palette knife, palette
(1F) Assessment (How will you monitor progress and know students have successfully met outcomes? What happens
when students understand and when they dont understand?
Daily: Daily observations of sketches/paintings as they are being developed
This Week: Completion of the landscape sketch

FRIDAY 8/29
(1C) Learning Target: Learning Target- TSW acquire an
understanding of the modulation of pigments. TSW know
this when he/she is able to mix tints/shades and neutrals.
(1C) Do Now: Pick out 3 colors in the class that you would
like to mix but think it would be difficult. Try to make the
color using colored pencils (go light between layers)

-Neutral chart with orange/blue; red/green; and
purple/yellow
II. Tints/shadespurple, blue, green, yellow, orange,
red3 or 4 shades of each
