This document describes a knowledge-based system called META/K2O for formation evaluation. It uses a spreadsheet to calculate porosity, resistivity, and clay content based on log data inputs for salt, silt, carbonate, and clay volumes. The user enters mud weight, caliper, gamma ray, and resistivity depth log values, and the spreadsheet calculates and outputs K2O (potassium), clay, carbonate, silt, and salt volumes. Equations are provided to relate each mineral volume to porosity, resistivity, and gamma ray values.
