Laboratory Automation

You are employed with a laboratory that analyses environmental Samples. The Laboratory has recently
acquired a number of very large contracts to measure the following parameters:
Ph & Conductivity by Meter
Trace Metals by AA
PCB by GC.

In addition, the laboratory needs to sample at least five (5) sites daily for all of the above parameters.
This is simply too much work for the small staff of 4 persons. Unfortunately, the laboratory CANNOT hire
additional staff.
1. Identify areas where automation can be used to improve the performance of the laboratory
both in throughput as well as quality, making sure to explain what kind of improvements to
expect, and what needs to be acquired.
2. How can a LIMS System make this even more efficient? Prepare a report to convince your
superiors of this.
