PRACTICE BEHAVIOR 2.1 Recognize and manage personal values in a way that allows professional values guide practice. It is important for us as social workers to remain professional at all times. Letting your personal feeling/opinions get the better of you could keep you from helping your client the way you need to.
PRACTICE BEHAVIOR 2.2 Make ethical decisions by applying standards of the NASW code of ethics, and as applicable, of the International Federation of Social workers/ International Association of schools of social work ethics in social work, statement of principles. As social workers, it is out job to make sure that we are compliant with the Code of ethics. If have a doubt about whether or not I was professional in a situation, I would check the code of ethics just to make sure I was following the standards and core values. PRACTICE BEHAVIOR 2.3 Tolerate ambiguity in resolving ethical conflicts Change doesnt happen over night. There will be situations where a client might be difficult. It is important for social workers to be patient and continue working with the client. PRACTICE BEHAVIOR 2.4 Apply strategies of ethical reasoning to arrive at principled decisions. There was a student at the middle school would act out and refuse to stay in school. My field supervisor found out that the child has Autism and right then her, a YDS, and the guidance counselors came together to discuss ways to help the students feel more comfortable at school.
