Final Reflective Writing

I have to say that it was no easy for me to accomplish my Practicum. It was hard
to complement my current job as a Teacher of English in a primary school, with thirty
hours in classrrom and my hours of Practicum in an adult school. Every time I had to
attend this practicum I had to switch over my attitud because I was dealing with a
different reality. There were no children, they were adult people who had another
purpose in their lives, they had different goals and inmediate plans for their lives. So, I
set myself as a helpful agent, not only a teacher, but someone who gave them
confidence and strength to be succesful in everything.

I started, as usual, in a very low profile as a teacher, observing my guide teacher

in order to recognize her weaknesses and trying to imitate her strengths. Finally, I found
my own character to deal with the class and I think I made my point. I gained the class
trust and I felt like an equal with my guide teacher.

As I said before, this adult learners are most often voluntary learners, they want to
be in school, despite their inconvenients, with family or job responsabilities and
commitments. They decided to finish school because they had goals, they had some
kind of ambitions and purpose in life and I felt I had to be helpful and a supporting agent.
It was so rewarding to see them at the end, when they were celebrating the end of their
process, the end of schoool. They felt happy, so I also felt happy for them.
