A Book I Am Reading

I have been reading lately an amazing epic series called A Song of
Ice and ire! "ritten by the American a#thor George R$ R$ %artin$
It has really catched me "ith the story$ It is placed in a "orld of
knights& s"ords and dragons$ B#t I 'nd it kind of di(erent to other
late series of this kind$ It is a ne" "orld constr#cted in a certain "ay
similar to )he *ord of the Rings! b#t it feels more h#man$
I specially 'nd it interesting beca#se of t"o things$ )he 'rst one is
the idea of a "orld "here magic really e+isted and "as part of
history$ B#t it disappeared many cent#ries ago$ )he book begins
"hen this magic starts coming back again$ In the 've books that
have been p#blished yo# see ho" it starts slo"ly b#t becomes one
of the most important elements$
)he other thing that catches my eye is that instead of #sing
monsters to e+plain the evil in this "orld the a#thor #ses only
h#man beings$ )he creat#res do not really make decisions$ %ost of
the times they are only part of nat#re and follo" their needs$
)ho#gh sometimes they are "ith one gro#p of h#mans they are
treated as a "eapon bet"een them$
)he h#mans in the story are not heroes or villains& they are ,#st
"hat they are& h#mans$ At the beginning I felt more connected and
in favor of some of them& b#t as the story develop I have fo#nd that
all of them have important and #nderstandable backgro#nds$ )his
helps to appreciate "hy they act as they do$
Even if it is a book "here magic is important it sho"s a lot of
h#manity and ho" yo#r past& yo#r choices and yo#r e+perience
make yo# "ho yo# are$
