colours and analytical images, e.g. figures, tables, diagrams, maps and graphs - WC6

Analyse how analytical images e.g. symbols, tables, flowcharts, contribute to
understanding and interpretation of texts VR6 (viii)
Sequence historical people and events. (ACHHS117)

Learning Experiences:
1. Read pages 81-94, while doing this ensure to take time to discuss what each chapter
will cover and point out to students all visuals in the book.
2. Revisit the timeline in chapter 10, ask students about the benefits of a timeline and
write down responses on the board in a concept map
3. Watch world cup video analysing world cup winners
4. In small groups students will create a large version of this timeline on a poster
5. Students share their posters with the rest of the class

Assessment:
Students will assessed on their timelines

Adjustments:
Students having difficulty can be placed together in a group and guided by the
teacher or assistant to create one timeline together
Extension activity could be to create a timeline of Australias performances at the
world cup
