Definition of de-adjectival verb


De-adjectival verb is the
verb are derived from
adjectives marked with
affixes.
Characteristic of de-adjectival verb:
De-adjectival verb is always marked with:
Suffix
example: -ify, -ize, -en, etc.
prefix
example: -en, -be, etc.
De adjectival verb marked with ify suffix as in:
example: beautify : Im just going to beautify
myself
purify : Plants help to purify the air

De adjectival verb marked with -ize suffix as in:
example: modern (adjective) ---> modernize (verb)

Much of the house has been modernized
harmony (adjective) --->harmonize (verb)
The garden has been designed to
harmonize with the natural landscape
tender (adjective) ---> tenderize (verb)

De adjectival verb marked with en suffix as in:
example: black (adjective) ---> blacken (verb)
white (adjective) ---> whiten (verb)
quick (adjective) ---> quicken (verb)
dark (adjective) ---> darken (verb)
wide (adjective) ---> widen (verb)

Conclusion
