Malden Family Fun Night Reflection

As students at West Virginia State University we went out to Malden Family Fun Night
on March 14th with learning activities for the students based on Booker T. Washington. Parents,
grandparents, and student guardians came out with their children who attend Malden Elementary
and they went from room to room to do these learning activities with them. Our group did a
baggy book based on Booker T. Washingtons life. We based it off of a book we used. It was
great to see the students working with their family members and getting involved in the students
education. I feel that the family members that came to the school with their children learned that
it is important to be involved in their childs education. It is not only the teachers job to teach the
students, but the families job to continue the childs learning outside of the classroom. I think
that the Family night was a huge success, and it gave family member time to spend with the
children in their school and do fun activities with them.
