SOP FOR FENTON AND ELECTRO OXIDATION PROCESS

Fenton:
1. Transfer 20 cm (1 Kl) feed from condensate tank to seal cooling tank.
2. Adjust pH between 3-4 using concentrated sulfuric acid or caustic lye.
3. Note quantity of acid or sulfuric used for pH adjustment.
4. Add previously weighted pyridine dosing solution.
5. Keep on recirculation for half an hour.
6. Send sample to the lab as fenton feed sample for analysis. Keep counter sample in ETP with
proper labeling.
7. Add previously prepared ferrous sulfate solution.
8. Keep for recirculation for about 10 minutes.
9. Carefully add previously prepared hydrogen peroxide solution.
10. Keep for recirculation for 3 hours.
11. Send sample to the lab as after fenton treatment sample. Keep counter sample in ETP.
12. Adjust pH between 8-9 by using lime and under agitation.
13. Check pH in lab after 15 minutes of agitation.
14. After pH adjustment stop agitation and keep for settling for minimum 1 hrs.
15. After settling separate bottom sludge and transfer clear (slightly tallow colored) liquid to lector
oxidation feed tank.
16. Send sample for HPLC and TDS,TSS,COD and pH.
Electro - Oxidation
1. Take feed sample from seal cooling tank after fenton treatment by siphoning using rubber hose
to Electo-oxidation feed tank.
2. Start feed pump. Note down feed rate in log sheet.
3. Adjust pH to around 10 using previously prepared caustic solution. Adjust the dose accordingly.
4. Note down the caustic solution dosing rate.
5. Start Fe dosing after pH is made alkaline.
6. Adjust optimum dose of Fe to achieve maximum settling.
7. Note Fe dosing rate.
8. Adjust air flow rate in settling tank.
9. Note air flow rate.
10. Once outlet water is clear, take samples after 2 hrs and 4 hours.
11. After completion of one batch drain membrane tank and sludge tank.
