    The Mount Prospect Police Department has seen an increase in residential burglaries over the past few months. Recent burglaries have occurred in the early evening hours to late evening hours when homeowners were away from their homes. The offender(s) used force to gain entry into the homes through windows or doors, taking jewelry, cash, and other valuables. Residents are asked to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious persons, cars, or activity. They are also reminded to always lock their doors and windows when leaving and make it appear someone is home by leaving lights and electronics on. Anyone with information on these crimes can call the police tip line anonymously.
