REGULATI ONS
1. Cours e Ti t l e
The course shal l be cal l ed Master of Busi ness Admi ni strati on Degree
Course . The durati on of the course i s two years consi sti ng of four
semesters; two semesters i n each year. A candi date j oi ni ng the course
shal l pursue prescri bed courses of studi es.
2. El i g i bi l i t y f or Admi s s i on
Any graduate or postgraduate i n arts, sci ence, commerce, busi ness
management, al l i ed sci ences, engi neeri ng and technol ogy, medi cal
sci ences of thi s Uni versi ty or from any other uni versi ty consi dered
equi val ent thereto shal l be el i gi bl e for admi ssi on to the course.
Further the appl i cant shal l have a mi ni mum of 50% i n the qual i fyi ng
exami nati on. A rel axati on of 5% i s avai l abl e for SC/ST & Cat-I
candi dates. Sel ecti on of candi dates to the course shal l be done as per
rul es of the Uni versi ty and Government of Karnataka.
3. Co urs e Co nt e nt and I ns t ruct i on
a) Co urs e cont ent : The course compri ses of subj ects of study,
i nternshi p, proj ect work and fi el d work as prescri bed.
Pedagogy i ncl udes l ectures, case studi es, group di scussi ons,
qui zzes, semi nars, computer practi cal s, summer i nternshi p, factory
vi si ts etc.
b) Summer I nt erns hi p: After the second semester exami nati on
students shal l undertake team based summer i nternshi p and prepare
a report under the gui dance of a facul ty member. The report shal l
be submi tted before the commencement of the thi rd semester fai l i ng
whi ch the student shal l not be permi tted to j oi n the thi rd semester.
c) Fi nal Proj ect : Duri ng the thi rd and fourth semesters each student
shal l undertake proj ect work and prepare proj ect report stri ctl y i n
accordance wi th the gui del i nes i n thei r el ecti ve area under the
supervi si on of a facul ty. The students are requi red to mai ntai n a
proj ect work dai ry to be submi tted for eval uati on. The proj ect
report must be submi tted before the commencement of the fourth
semester exami nati on, fai l i ng whi ch the student shal l not be
permi tted to appear for the exami nati on.
4. At t e ndance and Co nduc t
The Course i s a ful l ti me course and students SHALL NOT take up
any empl oyment/course, part ti me or ful l ti me duri ng thei r study.
Students found vi ol ati ng thi s rul e shal l be removed from the course.
Mi ni mum attendance of 75% of actual worki ng hours i s requi red i n
each paper. A student who does not sati sfy the requi rements of
attendance and conduct shal l not be permi tted to wri te the
exami nati on i n the concerned subj ect.
5. Exami nat i on
Each subj ect i s di vi ded i nto i nternal assessment (I A) and end of term
exami nati on wi th marks al l ocated as shown i n the tabl e. I nternal
assessment must be spread over si xteen weeks al l owi ng reasonabl e
i nterval between assessments. I A marks shal l be awarded on the basi s
of announced and surpri se tests, term papers / semi nars / qui zzes /
case di scussi ons and computer practi cal s. The breakup of assessment
marks wi l l be as fol l ows:
a. Announced test 05 Marks
b. Surpri se test 05 Marks
c. Term paper / semi nar / case di scussi on 10 Marks
d. Vi va-voce 05 Marks
Tot al 25 Mar ks
There shal l be a term end exami nati on of 3 hours durati on for each
subj ect at the end of each semester (excepti ng proj ect report).
6. Eval uat i o n of Proj ect Re port s
1. Summer i nternshi p report and proj ect work di ary are
eval uated for 50 marks through i nternal val uati on.
2. Students shal l have to submi t a work dai ry and synopsi s of the
proposed proj ect work, to be eval uated for 50 marks by the
concerned gui de, before the commencement of thi rd semester
exami nati on fai l i ng whi ch he/she wi l l not be al l owed to
appear for the thi rd semester exami nati on.
3. Each proj ect report i s eval uated for 75 marks by i nternal and
external exami ners. The gui de ordi nari l y shal l be the
i nternal exami ner.
4. A vi va-voce for 25 marks wi l l be conducted by a board of
three members consti tuted by the Chai rman, BOE from the
approved l i st of exami ners.
7. Decl ar at i o n of Res ul t s
The decl arati on of resul ts shal l be made as fol l ows:
a. Mi ni mum for a pass i s 40% of the marks i n each exami nati on
paper and 50% of the marks i n the aggregate of four
semesters. There i s no mi ni mum for i nternal assessment, and
summer i nternshi p report.
b. The mi ni mum for a pass i n Fi nal proj ect report i s 30/75 marks
and there i s no mi ni mum for vi va-voce.
c. Carryover i s permi tted as per Uni versi ty regul ati ons.
d. Decl arati on of grades shal l be done after the fourth semester
exami nati on on the basi s of aggregate marks of al l semesters.
The decl arati on shal l be made as fol l ows:
Grade A1 70% and above i n the aggregate
Grade A 60% and above but l ess than 70% i n the
aggregate.
Grade B 50% and above but l ess than 60% i n the aggregate
Grade F L ess than 50% i n the aggregate (FAI L )
Decl arati on of resul ts i n the case of REPEATERS shal l be done
accordi ng to general rul es of the Uni versi ty.
