    This thesis examines the effectiveness of small group discussions based on gender to improve students' English speaking abilities. The thesis was submitted by Tenriawaru Taslim to the Faculty of Languages and Literature at State University of Makassar in 2012 to fulfill requirements for a Sarjana Pendidikan degree in the English Department. The study explores using same-gender small group discussions as a technique to help students feel more comfortable practicing their English speaking skills.
