What Were Learning
Reading: We actually ended up starting a new chapter
book called PIE. It is very interesting, and we are getting to
know the characters. We have been able to relate one of
the main characters, Polly, to Wilbur because they are
both humble.

Writing: We will be working on writing narratives that
include actions, thoughts, and feelings, transition words,
and a closing. We are continuing to work on adding details
to our writing so that readers can envision our small
moment.
Language Arts: We will learn about collective nouns and
how they name groups of things (herd, bouquet, pod).

Math: We will begin a word problem unit. We will practice
solving one-step addition and subtraction word problems.
We will learn the SEE method, which stands for Show,
Equation, and Explain. Students must write an equation
based on the word problem before attempting to solve.

Social Studies: We will begin a unit on the Creek and
Cherokee. We will compare our lives to theirs and
understand the resources they had available to use.
