    The Great Gatsby Wiki Assignment

    For this assignment the class is going to work together to create a wiki for The Great
    Gatsby. Follow the directions below.

    Procedure:
    1. Working in pairs, you will all research one aspect of the 20’s. After your research is
    complete, you will work together to write two three paragraph (minimum) newspaper
    articles based on your findings, one article for each of you.
    2. Next, working individually, you will, in the voice of one of the characters in the novel,
    write an editorial about the topic you researched. To prepare for this we will look at
    several editorials and newspaper articles to note the difference between the two.
    3. Each pair of you will work together to do research, and you will help each other edit
    your work, but you are each responsible for a written article and a written editorial.

    Checklist:
    • You must print out info from web pages and YOU MUST HAVE A WORKS CITED
    PAGE. This is an important requirement and you will lose points if you don’t have one.
    • Each student must each contribute a written part for the newspaper article.
    • Each student must write an editorial.

    Topics to be researched:
    1. Sports (Babe Ruth, and others)
    2. Crime/prohibition
    3. Economic boom (include advertisements)
    4. Music
    5. Fashion
    6. 1920’s Fundamentalism (KKK, Scopes trial, prohibition?)
    7. Politics-scandals, arms limitations
