Penguin Shaft and Propeller,
Torque new lock nut to 450
Ft.lb, Stake lock lip in place,
Install shaft plate, Return to
service.
Apply Loctite 277; Re-
Torque lock nut to 500-550
Ft.lb, Stake lock lip in place,
Re-Install shaft plate, Return
to service.
New (rebuilt) MH
Transmission installed
Torque new lock nut to 450
Ft.lb, Stake lock lip in place,
Align Engine, Weld key
material to locknut and
shaft.
Remove Vessel from water,
shaft sent to Machine shop to
verify straightness, propeller
changed. Packing removed,
shaft flange aligned with
straight edge and feeler
gauge. Packing reinstalled, dial
gauge used to check rotation
on both Port and Starboard
shaft
