ELA (A.K.A. Reading)
Students are continuing to learn about:
- Text-to-self, text-to-text, text-to-word
- Making connections with books
with themselves, other books, and
the world.
- Syllables
- Putting hand to chin to help
determine how many syllables a
word has.

Reading Log
Students should read at least 10 minutes
each night. A new reading log was sent home
in Thursday Folders. They are due at the end
of the month.



Mathematics
We continue practicing
- Addition and subtraction number
sentences and word problems
- Paying close attention to the + and
symbols and what they mean
- Measurement (non-standard units).
Writing
We have started a new unit which teaches
Nonfiction writing. Student will learn how to
write stories that are informational (tells
about something). Help your student think
of ideas that they could write about. For
example, How to take care of a dog.

Other News:
- Send in box tops! These help our classroom earn points to receive new supplies for the classroom.
- Send in Sunny-D labels! When we get 20 labels, our class gets 20 FREE books.

Scholastic
Scholastic orders were sent home. Please
have a look over. If you buy books, our class
