General tour company information and requirements


1. Language
Krishnans Dairy is performed in English.
Please note, surtitles are suitable for this production. Surtitle equipment must be provided by
the venue / presenter.


2. Touring Company
One actor; one musician; one technical manager/tour manager/operator
One director/producer (not all tours)

TOTAL: 3 or 4


3. Accommodation
It is preferable that the company be accommodated within walking distance of good quality,
independent eating establishments.


4. Transport
For the airport hotel transfers please allow space for the company luggage requirements that
is usually 3 - 4 large suitcases, 3 - 4 smaller bags, and 3 guitars.


5. Hospitality
To be provided by the venue each day, including pack in and performance days

a. Bottled water and snacks (i.e. granola bars, fruit, nuts, chips) for each day we are in the
venue, including pack in and performance days.

b. A light evening meal (e.g. pasta and salad / sandwiches and salad / sushi) for
performance days

c. If the pack in is occurring on the same day as the opening performance we require lunch
to be provided that day.

d. A vegetarian option should be included.

e. If there is more than one show in a day we require a cooked meal between shows.

Venue requirements

1. Performance area
The minimum playing space is 8m wide x 6.5m deep x 5m high (with minimum proscenium size
8m wide x 5m high).

2. Stage masking
Preferably black.
Side of stage needs to be masked with one set of legs (with a border).
Performer entrance + exits are all upstage of the set behind hanging saris





3. Flooring
A black stage is preferable
We have a painted tarkett (4200mm x 4000mm) This is positioned centrally and defines the
performing area.

4. Additional requirements (to be provided by the venue)
Props tables! x 2, ideal size 1200mm x 700mm.
Counterweights (or sandbag equivalent) to hold down the set if it cant be screwed down.

5. Laundry and wardrobe
We require access during the season to
A washing machine.
A dryer.
An iron and ironing board, or steamer.

6. Lighting equipment
Lighting requirements are listed below.

8. Operating position
Lights and sound need to be operated from the same front of house position, preferably
within the auditorium where the operator can clearly hear the PA system

9. Coms
One set of coms onstage in the wings (preferably stage left) and one at the
lighting/sound control position.

10. Additional Power
1 x 10amp AC power lead run to upstage centre behind the set. This is used to power a
hairdryer, a cash register and a small desk lamp
3 x AC power for rice cookers in the auditorium (position to be confirmed on arrival).
These need non-dim power that can be controlled from the operating position. These are
uses to create an olfactory effect by heating cardamom and water.
Note, all these electrical items run on NZ standard mains supply of 230V and will require
a step up transformer if the mains power supply at the venue is 110V.

11. Consumable props (for each season)

Gaffer tape 1 x white / 1 x black rolls


Krishnans Dairy set

The following is provided by Indian Ink Company as part of the Krishnans Dairy touring set.

1. Set Pieces
1 x painted tarkett (4200mm x 4000mm)
The set is comprised of a counter and flower stand (both preferably screwed into the
stage floor, but can be secured using weights) and a platform with steps (upstage
centre behind the saris).
There are 3 lines of hanging saris comprising the backdrop of the set. These are
usually rigged onto existing flying batons. The distance between the sari lines is
between 600mm & 700mm.
All these set pieces are provided by the company.

Timings and crew requirements

The following schedule is an approximation of the time and crew requirements for Krishnans
Dairy dependant on access equipment for lighting focus and the in-house venue requirements
for crewing.

Front of House

There will be a temporary lock out at the start of the show but latecomers will be able to be
admitted at a suitable time in the show to be arranged with the technical manager.

Lighting

Lighting units
This is a guideline of the preferred lighting equipment to be supplied by the venue. In most
instances however the lighting design can be adapted to the instruments available in the venue.

18 x 1.2K Profiles / Zoomspots (prefer Selecon Pacifics)
6 x 1.2K PCs
5 x 1.2K Fresnels
3 x 2K Fresnels
10 x 500 or 600w cyc units
1 x channel for a practical on the set (upstage centre on the floor). (NB we provide the
practical light)
42 dimmer channels
Programmable desk with sub-masters.

We use ideally 4 lighting bars over-stage, 2 lighting bars FOH and 2 x auditorium perch bars.

Audio

To be provided by the venue

2 x good quality speakers (for example Meyer UPJ; JBL PRX512M; QSC K12; JBL EON 515
XT) on each side of the stage about 4.5m upstage of the proscenium and about 3m either
side of centre (for live guitar and show sound effects). These need to be split left and right.
These are the main speakers for the show.
1 x CD player
3 x microphone leads from upstage centre of the set.
1 x DI box
1 x 58 microphone.(no stand required)
We provide one lapel microphone used to mic a cash register.

Additional requirements for a large venue, or one with a balcony
1 x 58 microphone at the operating position
1 x small, self-powered speaker at the rear of the auditorium (or rear the balcony)

Notes
1. For larger venues flown house system speakers may be used as infill for the rear
auditorium seats
2. There is no subs required for this show
3. All instruments are provided by the touring company.
