SAP BW Query as Data Source
To serve as a data source and become available through the
OLAP interface to Business Objects universes, BW queries
must be released for OLE DB for OLAP.
You allow external access to the BW Query in the SAP BW
Query Designer, on the Extended tab of the Query Properties
dialog box.
All Info Objects in the BW query selected as rows, columns,
and free characteristics are visible in the universe, includes
characteristics, hierarchies, key figures, structures, and
variables.

Not all BW metadata features can be retrieved on an InfoCube level.


SAP BW Info Cube as Data Source
Types of Info Cubes supported for Universes
are Standard , Transactional Info Cube and
Remote Info cube.
All the characteristics, hierarchies, key figures,
including time and unit, in the Info Cube are
visible in the universe.


Creating Universe using SAP Query

Start Designer (Start > Programs > Business Objects XI 3.1
>Business objects Enterprise Client tools >Designer).

Enter BO
Credentials
Universe Parameters
Give the name of
the Universe
Click on the New
tab to create an
New Connection
Click Next
Name of the
Connection
Click on the
SAP
Enter SAP BI Logon
Credentials and click
Next
Select the
Query
depending
upon the
Cube
Test the
connection and
click Next
Configuration
Parameters for
connection Time
Out and click Finish
Click on ok
Click on Save .
Its saves in the
Universes .uni as
file extension
Documents and Settings\Application Data\Business Objects\Business
Objects
File >Export
Now we can see
the Universe which
is created
File >Import
Below in the window
you can see the
Importing been Done
