The Illinois Department of Commerce and

Economic Opportunity is seeking applicants for its


Urban Weatherization
Initiative
$500,000 grants available to
organizations that can:
Provide training for energy auditors
Provide training for weatherization
specialists
Develop employment opportunities for trained energy auditors
and weatherization specialists to work in their communities
Who is eligible?
Urban communities in the following counties:
UWI eligibility based on poverty rates, income levels and average utility bill burden. See website for details.
The Urban Weatherization Initiative
brings training, jobs and weatherization
services to distressed communities.
UWI is administered by the Illinois
Department of Commerce and Economic
Opportunity. Funding for UWI comes
from the Build Illinois Bond Fund.
Organizations are encouraged to
partner to leverage grant funding
Partnering organizations may include:
local weatherization agencies
educational institutions
workforce stakeholders
other community organizations
