The meeting was called to order by Moderator Karen Hamilton.
The Christ Candle was lighted and the group repeated the PW Purpose.
Jill Cohen gave the devotion in absence of Barbara Joyce.
Gayle Schmidt served as acting secretary.
.The June minutes were approved as distributed.
Alice Hoelzer-Hawthorn gave the treasurers report:
The additional $500 approved in June for Mission Haven will be sent along with the budgeted $100
this month.
Martha Kiser, Vice-Moderator, reported attending Bible Study Retreat and making contacts as
needed,. At this time, coordinators are needed for Districts 1,2,3,and 4.
Parliamentarian: Rosellyn Calvert, report submitted changes in by-laws and standing rules can be
found later in these minutes.

Historian: Susan Kaney - Absent, no report submitted. Karen reminded District Coordinators to
advise their churches that the history report is available on the website and copies should be sent
to Susan Kaney and to Columbia Seminary. The address for Columbia is on the form. These are due
before January 31, 2015.
Search Coordinator: Brenda Tompkins-- Four District Coordinators need to be replaced as well as a
new Treasurer as Alice will be moving out of state. All CT members, especially Martha Kiser, will work
with Brenda on fnding candidates for these positions.
Brenda volunteered to be Treasurer in training until the 27th Annual Gathering in January
Interpreters:
Cultural Diversity: Jennifer Jonas Absent June 8th I attended the PWCFP CT Meeting at Camp San
Pedro. July 26th I attended the Bible Study Planning Committee Meeting at St. Marks in Altamonte.
From Wednesday, July 30th Sunday, August 3rd I attended the 15th National MultiCultural
Conference in Ft. Worth, Texas. August 7th, I met with Pastor Nancy Graham Ogne of the Hope
Presbyterian Church in Lake Nona. August 8th and 9th I attended the PWCFP Bible Study at San
Pedro.
Global Missions: Barbara Joyce Absent August 8th & 9th I attended the PWCFP Bible Study at
Camp San Pedro. I attended a webinar on Aug 11th discussing the crisis in Gaza and the continuing
struggles of Israel-Palestine. I passed this information on to the district coordinators so they could
pass them to the churches. I had a lunch meeting with Jill Cohen and the Rev Irma Balaba of the
National Council of Churches in the Philippines on Sat Sept 27th. She discussed the ongoing struggles
of human rights in her country and how we as a church can help. Missionaries play a large role in this
efort. I have been asked by Diane Watkins to fll the Global Mission-Cuba Leadership Committee
Chair role which she will be vacating after the frst of the year. Praying on it!!
Justice and Peace Jill Bolander Cohen -- Met with the Hope Community Center in Apopka and Sister
Ann Kendrick. Met with Tirso Morino of the Farm workers Association in Apopka I helped secure
housing and services for a foreign exchange student that was being exploited. I appeared with her
in court to plead our case before the judge, she will be receiving a green card soon. She is placed in
a loving home.
Installed PW Ofcers at Northlake Presbyterian. Attended a two hour meeting with Orange
Countys Sherif Demings, I updated him on the task force and the Lifeboat Project The Central
Florida Presbytery Mission Development Committee approved that I start a new task force dealing
with human trafcking and domestic violence in the congregations, several pastors and members
have stepped forward to help. We will have our frst meeting in the coming months. ECS and The
lifeboat Project presented the new human trafcking app to the Florida Department of Education in
Gainesville. Charted the new Zonta Club of Greater Orlando and sit as the President, Zonta holds a
seat on the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations. I was installed as a Board of
Director at my Rotary Club of Seminole South; the President is fellow Presbyterian Charles English of
Washington Shores. Displayed our app to Congressman John Mica at ECS.
Attended the PW Bible Study. LBP with the help of an angel donor secured a 20 room apartment
complex in Apopka. I was a PCUSA guest panelist on a conference call, the topic of violence against
women and human trafcking. The call was fve hours long. I have spoken at several churches.
When Dan Turks from Madagascar was in town I attended his function with PATH and connected Dan
with my Lifeboat board member Peter Chaires with the Florida Citrus packers. Dan is working on a
citrus tree project.
I hosted the Reverend Irma Balba for seven days. She is our PCUSA peacemaker from the Philippines.
During her stay Irma preached at Maitland Presbyterian for two services and had lunch with PWCFP
Mission Interpreter Barb Joyce. The Greater Orlando Human Trafcking Task Force and Holland
& Knight Attorneys hosted a private luncheon for Irma and the committee chairs of education,
international afairs, labor and the exec team. The Lifeboat Project board of directors hosted an
evening with me and Irma; we spoke on our work, forty people attended.
Pres. Homes/Schools: Gayle Schmidt -- Since the last meeting I have attended both planning
meetings and the Bible Study Retreat. I have also submitted Proposed Changes to Requirements
for Vocational Scholarships. These were distributed by the Parlimentarian, Rosellyn Calvert. During
the Retreat Jeans Evans, Karen Hamilton and I met and reviewed the scholarship applications and
recommended awarding $2000 to Katy Steinberg and $1500 to Joe Raymond. The checks were
mailed and I received thank you notes from both.
District 1 -- Debbie Grifth resigned efective August 9th.
District 2 -- Kay Laws I have forwarded emails as requested to all churches. I attended the Bible
Study Retreat at San Pedro in August, installed ofcers at First Pres. in DeLand and
went over the local by-laws with the Moderator and helped make some clarifcations.
Resigned efective October 4th.
District 3 -- vacant
District 4 -- vacant due to inactivity
District 5 -- Jean Evans Absent, I called and e-mailed all my churches to encourage participation in
the Bible Study. I attended the Bible Study at San Pedro Aug 8 & 9. I forwarded Lauras notes on the
study to D 5 churches. All correspondence has also been forwarded.
District 6 -- Eleanore Kaney Absent. I attended the Bible Study at San Pedro . It was wonderful and
enjoyed a lot. Attended a meeting at College Park Pres. Church They have two circles at CP. and I was
at the morning circle. They were fnishing a Beth Moore study and selecting a new study.
After discussion they are now doing the study of Paul from Horizions. The night time circle will
continue with another Beth Moore bible study.
A Hymnfest took place in Sept. at Park Lake. Included in the group was Washington Shores Pres.,
Orlando Pres., Grace Covenant ,College Park and Park Lake. A Covered dish Supper followed the sing.
We had a great attendance. The only church not represented was Grace Covenant.
I was able to obtain the name of the interim Moderator for Grace Covenant. She wants some
suggestion for Bible Study for their circles. I am sorry no one attended San Pedro.
Have been talking to a friend at Winter Park Pres. A group is interested in restarting their PW. We are
going to meet and gather some ideas.
District 7 -- Beth Timmons Absent Since 2 cents per meal supports PATH and PATH supports the
Turks work in Madagascar, I sent the District 7 churches information about Dan Turk speaking
on 9/14/2014 and Rev. Lala speaking on 10/12/2014. I also sent along PW email to the District 7
churches. I have spoken with PW women at 1st Titusville, St Lukes, Cocoa, Merritt Island, Rockledge,
and Riverside Cocoa Beach about the new PW Bible Study.
District 8 -- Becky Stewart - Westminster Presbyterian Church and Spring Hill PC Sebring have been
told by pastors that the PW should be disbanded. No specifc reasons given. This information will
be sent to the CFP Council and will also seek advice from the Executive Presbyter Dr. Dan Williams.
Also discussed fnancial issues First Vero is having with the session regarding PW funds.
New Business:
1. 27th Annual Gathering Wekiva Presbyterian January 24, 2015
The Wekiva committee is working on space, meals, etc. (Renee, Cheryl, Lois)
Martha, Karen, Jill, Barbara, Jennifer, Abbie and Gayle will meet on October 27, 6:30 at Maitland
PC. to cooridnate plans for the gathering program.
The 27th Annual Gathering theme is Living the PW Purpose. Small groups will focus on the
following topics and facilitators: Nurturing our Faith --Gayle Schmidt; Supporting the Worldwide
Mission of the Church--Barbara Joyce; Working for Justice and Peace --Jill Cohen; and Building
Inclusive Communities --Jennifer Jonas.

representatives from the Alliance for International Reforestation from Guatemala at Park
Lake Presbyterian Church. At this presentation we will learn how the 2 cents a meal
ofering is making a diference.
e. October 28, 6:30 pm Wekiva PC -- Festival of Tables dinner for Thank Ofering. Contact
church for reservations. Tickets $10.
f. December 6 -- 10am Maitland PC. Prayer Brunch $12.
Old Business:
Proposed Changes in requirements for Vocational Scholarship applications:
1. Students under the care of Central Florida Presbytery Committee on Preparations for Ministry
and attending a NON-PCUSA seminary may submit a scholarship application. They shall be
eligible for a one time scholarship.
2. Individuals who are under the care of the CFP Committee on Preparations for Ministry and
preparing to become Certifed Christian Educators may submit an application for scholarship.
Motion passed.
Proposed change in Standing Rules:
In order to qualify for reimbursement for the cost of attending any leadership training event, (i.e.,
Epworth, Global Triennial Conference) PWCFP CT members and District Coordinators must fle timely
quarterly and annual reports and have no more than one excused absence.
All PWCFP CT members who attend CT meetings and fle a quarterly report should have their costs
covered to attend the triennial conference.
If a PWCFP CT member is inactive, does not attend meetings and sends in no report or excuse, she
shall not be give the cost to attend the triennial conference.
Motion approved.
