Special guest lecturer Susan Napier will explore
the artistic productions of Hayao Miyazaki
(Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away). Her talk will
be followed by a screening of Isao Takahatas
film Grave of the Fireflies (1988) at 7:00 PM.

Napier is the author of Anime from Akira to
Princess Mononoke: Experiencing Contemporary
Japanese Animation and From Impressionism to
Anime: Japan as Fantasy and Fan Cult in the
Western Imagination.

Free and open to the public.
