    William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet and actor born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon who wrote some of the most famous plays and poems in English literature including "Hamlet", "Romeo and Juliet", and "Macbeth". He married at age 18 and worked as an actor and playwright in London, writing over 30 plays and 154 sonnets. Many of his plays were first performed at the Globe Theater in London which burned down in 1613 and was later rebuilt.
