Then we received our own passports!

Australia
We did some Aboriginal Dot Pictures!
We made patterns with colours and sizes.

Then we created some of our own patterns.
Asia
After reading the book Cleversticks, we had a go at using
chopsticks to pick up different objects!

........and we succeeded!
We had to follow a procedure to make our Panda Bear Masks. We had to gather the
materials we needed, cut out our Panda Parts, glue them on and then attach string to
make it a mask.
Africa
We visited Africa, where we learnt about the different African animals, including the
Cheetah.

We learnt that the Cheetah is the fastest animal in the world!

Our Shape Cheetah helped us in learning to identify and classify different shapes by their
features!
We learnt about
Pyramids, Pharaohs' and
Hieroglyphics!

We were able to make
our own name in
Ancient Egyptian
Hieroglyphics and then,
in Maths, we made our
own Pyramids.

Some of us did traditional coloured pyramids, while others decided to go
a bit crazy and create colourful pyramids!
We learnt that this
Pyramid is a 3D
shape, and is
made of triangle
faces and a
square base!

Then we looked through a book which showed us what lies within a Pyramid.
We learnt about
nets, and how by
folding and gluing
the flat shape on
our paper, we can
then make it into a
3D shape!
North and South America

Whilst learning about South America,
we studied what the map of South
America looks like. We learnt about
what symbols are on a map, and how
to use a key.

First we made our own South America
maps, putting in place the symbols for
the Amazon River, the Amazon Forest
and the Andes Mountains. Then we
made our key so that other people
could see what was in South America.

After that we created our OWN
continents! What fun that was! We had
train tracks, forests, rivers, cities,
mountains and even some walking
paths!

When we had finished creating our
continents, we had to think of a name
for our land! We had some very
creative names!

We learnt about the
country Mexico,
which is in North
America.

Then we all learnt
how to do the
Mexican Hat
Dance!

We had to
work
together as
a class to
make sure
we were in
time with
the music.
We also had
to focus on
being safe,
while
having fun!
Europe

We designed our own Kilts from Scotland, using only straight lines in a pattern.
We learnt about the Eiffel Tower that is in France. First we did some observational drawings
and then with building blocks we tried making our own towers.
We worked in two teams to see who could build their tower, without it crashing down!

We had to decide what type of block was the best for a base.

Then Mel challenged us by putting down unsuitable bases, and we worked together to
balance our blocks on top of them!

While we were learning about Italy, we did
activities such as Sight Word Spaghetti and
Shape Pizzas. Mrs Hobbs and Mel placed
their orders, and we had to make our pizzas
according to what shapes they felt like on
their pizzas.
We had to work in pairs to fill the teachers pizza orders. We had to use our problem solving skills to
work out how many of each shape we needed, and if we weren't sure of the word for the shape,
we had to work together to sound it out.
After learning about pyramids, we
learnt about other 3D shapes, like
spheres, cylinders, prisms and
cones. We learnt about all the 3d
shapes we see everyday in our
lives, and then we made our own
cones. We turned the first cones
into turtles, and then the second
cones we made turned into...
(For our countries celebration!)
PARTY HATS!
