I am concerned that I may have been overcharged for my gas/electricity/gas or


electricity since 1 July 2004, when the EU introduced a requirement for cost-reflective
pricing for domestic gas and electricity supply (in directives 2003/54/EC and
2003/55/EC).

The energy regulator, Ofgem, estimates the actual additional cost (over your direct
debit rates) of paying for energy by cash or cheque is £37 a year, and £87 a year for
installing and maintaining prepayment meters (£52 for gas meters and £35 for
electricity meters).

I am writing to demand a refund of any money I have paid since 1 July 2004 over and
above this amount, or an alternative acceptable to me.

If you are unwilling or unable to make an offer that I deem acceptable, please send
me a record of any data held by [NAME OF COMPANY] relating to myself for any
and all accounts and/or supply agreements I have held with [NAME OF COMPANY].
This should include all transaction lists, agreements, and payments since 1 July
2004.
