Influences
Our group have looked at different Soap
Opera Trailers to help us create our own
ideas for to make our Soap Opera Trailer.
We looked at different types of Soap
Operas such as Reality, Melodrama,
Drama hybrid and Social Realism etc. We
have mainly looked at Melodrama and
Social Realism.

The influences from melodrama is soap
operas like Waterloo road which is about
a school so we have changed the idea of
this to a college and also we got
influences from social realism like
Coronation Street which is
death/bullying/fires/murder and made
our idea as kidnapping, cheating,
fighting, family feud.

We see teenagers deal with adult issues
Were based in a college rather than a high
school
Soaps/Series where teenagers are the main
characters usually follow the same theme
(90210, for example)
Reaching our audience
Our target audience are young adults; 16-24 year olds. This is because the
storyline surrounds college and people around this age are either at or
have been to college and so it is relatable.
The ethnic range of the characters will allow more people to feel
connected to the characters and will encourage more people to watch.
The issues raised will be realistic enough to engage audiences but also
dramatic enough to intrigue them.
Our soap will be broadcasted on Channel4 at around 8pm, twice a week.
