FIRE ESCAPE NOTES AS PER MDL 53-4,5,6,7
1. EVERY FIRE ESCAPE SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF OPEN BALCONIES &
STAIRWAYS OF IRON ABLE TO SUSTAIN A LOAD OF AT LEAST 80 LBS. PER
SQUARE FOOT
2. THE USE OF OLD FIRE ESCAPES OR IRON SHALL BE UNLAWFUL.
3. EVERY STAIR SHALL BE PLACED AT AN ANGLE OF 60 DEGREES.
4. THERE SHALL BE PROVIDED FROM THE LOWEST BALCONY A DROP LADDER
15" IN WIDTH AND A MAXIMUM DISTANCE OF 16 FEET TO REACH A SAFE
LANDING PLACE.
5. PROVIDE A GOOSENECK LADDER FROM THE TOP BALCONY TO THE ROOF.
6. EVERY NEW FIRE ESCAPE SHALL BE PAINTED WITH FIRST COAT BEFORE
ERECTION AND THE SECOND COAT AFTER ERECTION OF GOOD PAINT &
CONTRASTING COLORS.
