Teenagers are testing independence while desiring belonging, want meaningful service opportunities and logical explanations, are developing their own faith and sense of value, want to succeed and have a good sense of humor. Teenagers with special needs have many similar characteristics but are limited by their disabilities, can feel lonelier with fewer social opportunities, have gifts that are not always recognized, and desire acceptance for who they are.
