Opening of the New Career Center
at Sonoma State University

September 17, 2014, Rohnert Park, CA Sonoma State Universitys Career Services department has
begun a new chapter in their department with the opening of the Career Center. We offer an array of
services for SSU Students to help them in their career exploration and establishing career goals.

During the summer session, the department acquired the space previously occupied by the
International Services office in Salazar 1070. Although Career Services has always hosted resume-
building workshops, mock interviews, and employer-sponsored workshops, the newly dedicated space
makes these events more accessible to students than ever. Even when there are no events taking
place, the staff has worked tirelessly to turn the Career Center into an inviting space for students to use.
The open-layout and wall of windows encourages students to spend time in the space reading through
various resources in the Career Services library, searching for jobs or internships, or working on their
resumes and cover letters.

The department also unveiled a newly remodeled website abundant in carefully selected career
resources for students and alumni. The new design makes the departments website easier to navigate,
making its seemingly endless resources more available to students. On the website, students will find
the departments calendar of events, access to Seawolf Jobs, and hundreds of career exploration and
job search resources at their disposal.

In addition to its new physical space and enhanced online presence, the Career Services professional
and student staff also spend the year coordinating, maintaining, and building strong relationships with
hundreds of employers in order to bring the largest career fair to the entire campus every spring. They
aim to provide students with the opportunity to spend several hours networking with top employers.
Providing oversight for Sonoma State Universitys Career Services, Ann Mansfield works directly with
students to support them in their career development by bringing meaningful career events to SSU and
through individual career counseling.
