1. Which iPad/technology skill were you learning more about?

The ability to create a College Facebook page.
2. What sort of assistance did you seek?

I needed to understand how the Facebook phenomenon works with regard to
allowing our school to publicize celebrations and events using that platform. I
had no experience in the mechanics of creating then maintaining the content
as a Facebook page manager.
3. How did you practice your skills?

Melissa Marshall, our eLearning teacher, demonstrated the skills required
then allowed me to use those same skills under her instruction. Skills
included uploading photos, posting, securing then maintaining posts, use
snip art to better frame larger photos, open photos in Art, design the art work
in those photos, cull negative posts to the page.

4. What was the outcome of your new skill (in the classroom, in
record-keeping, etc)

I can confidently carry out all of these skills to the point our Facebook page is
becoming an extremely successful publicity arm to our colleges student,
parent, local and alumni community. We have reached 600 likes to the site in
10 weeks.
5. What is the next step for you in regards to your technology skills?

My intention is to discuss with Mel new avenues to use Fb to further
expand our community. Mel has already demonstrated some of the
techniques we could use. During term 4 I shall follow through with
those recommendations.
