Type of lesson: acquisition of new vocabulary / practising communicative and
writing skills.

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is present new items of vocabulary to the
pupils and to revise the structures that express criticism and regret in order to use
them later in communicative situations.
Didactic strategies:
Methods and procedures: conversation, explanation, dialogue.
Organization: teacher-students, student-teacher, student-student(pair work),
student-class
Materials and equipments: Textbook (Pathway to English/English
Scrapbook), Pupils Notebook, worksheets ( Grammar Challenge Should
have/w. on creative writing using the structures that express criticism and
regret), images of the Titanic (the ship and the interior of it).

Lesson Aims:
to familiarize pupils with the vocabulary that they are to be presented
to use the new vocabulary and the revised grammar notions in exercises
to consolidate the new items of vocabulary and the revised grammar notions

Presentation:
Activity 1: Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T Timing: 10
Skills: Reading and writing
Aim: Teacher presents the pupils the new lesson and what they are going to talk
about. T. asks the pupils to read the text twice (It shouldnt have happened),
underline the unknown words and write them in their notebooks. T. translates the
unknown words from English to Romanian. T. demands the pupils to translate the
text orally for a better comprehension of it.

Practice
Activity 2: Interaction: T-Ss, S-S Timing: 10
Skill: Speaking, Writing
Teacher presents some pictures of the Titanic (of the ship and of the interior of it).
T. asks the pupils to do the exercise 1(part c) in pairs. Its role is to ease their
understanding the vocabulary they have learned and gain their attention.

Presentation:

Skills: Speaking and reading
Teacher presents the pupils the structures that express criticism and regret (should
have/shouldnt have) and demands them to read and translate the examples given
in the pupils book.

T. gives the pupils a worksheet, with 2 exercises on the structures that express
criticism and regret (should have/shouldnt have), and tells them that they are
required to do it individually.

Practice
Activity 5: Interaction: T-Ss, S-S Timing: 5
Teacher asks the pupils to do the exercise number 3 (on page 75). T. tells them that
they have to work in pairs and that they have to use the structures that express
criticism and regret.

Consolidation
Activity 6: Interaction: T-Ss, S-S Timing: 10
Skill: Speaking and writing
T. gives them a worksheet with an exercise in which they are requested to use their
creativity in order to bring original answers to it. T. puts them to work in pairs.
