SUBMISSION OF MARKS / TRANSCRIPTS / SFRS
There are still many students who do not submit their marks when they
receive final grade reports. College students should be sending their
reports after each semester and university students in April.
Students marks are not automatically sent to our office by the college or
university. The student must send us these grades or makes
arrangements with the registers office to have their final grades sent to
the sponsoring agency, please note: there maybe a fee for this request.
Copies of student registration forms or timetables must be sent at the
beginning of each semester/term. The September 25th, 2014
deposits may go on hold for the students who do not submit their
student registration forms/timetables by this date.
POST SECONDARY FUNDING
In order not to jeopardize their sponsorship, the current post
secondary students must continue to demonstrate the commitment to
their studies and ensure they are complying with the post secondary
guidelines.
The budget constraints within the MChigeeng First Nation
administration and the waiting list of post secondary students make it
difficult to sponsor as many students as in the previous years.
REGULAR CONTACT
Students are required to maintain regular contact with our office by
phone or email.
CHILD CARE ALLOWANCE
If you are claiming a childcare allowance, you are required to submit proof
that the child/children is/are living with you. This is usually a copy of your
income tax return (2013). This shows the dependents you are claiming.
This must be submitted prior to the issuance of the September 2014
allowance. If the childcare allowance is not included in the September 2014
deposit, it is because we have not received a copy of the 2013 income tax
return.
TRAVEL
Travel is based on the actual bus fares (Greyhound) from your home to
the school. Your return travel home for Christmas will be included in the
November 25th deposit.
NATIVE / ABORIGINAL COUNSELLING UNITS
Almost all the colleges and universities have native counseling units.
These counselors are there for support and direction. You can contact
these counselors for any type of assistance. They will contact our office
on your behalf if necessary. If you are unsure about a unit in your school -
call me and Ill find a contact for you.
COLLEGE / UNIVERSITY VISITS
I make visits to Cambrian College, Sault College, Canadore College,
Algoma University, Laurentian University and Nipissing University each
semester to see the students. These colleges/universities have the
majority of MChigeeng post secondary students.
STUDENTS ON PROBATION
If you are a student on academic probation in the 2014-2015 academic
year, your December 14th, 2014 student allowance will go on hold until
we receive your Fall 2014 final grades. NO deposit will be made until
successful completion of the Fall 2014 term is confirmed.

2014 - 2015
TIME TO WELCOME ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR!!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer holiday and you are ready
for another year of hard work.
If you wish to get a copy of your budget sheet, please contact the Post
Secondary Counselor.
REMINDER:
All (new & returning) students have to apply for educational assistance
each year. The deadline is MARCH 30th each year. ENSURE YOU
APPLY EARLY; DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.

ADDRESS / PHONE NUMBERS / EMAIL /
BANK INFO ETC.
Ensure these are up to date with our office. Information is sent to
students throughout the year, therefore we require proper addresses
and emails. Call or email and let us know when something changes.
BOOK ALLOWANCE
College students receive $400.00 per semester (September &
J anuary) and University students receive $600.00 in September to
cover the full time academic year (September to April).
KEEP ALL RECEIPTS!! Should you require more than the amount
provided, send the receipts for the amount issued along with the
receipts for the additional costs for reimbursement.

Option - Instead of including the book allowance in the student deposit, a book
sponsorship letter can be sent directly to the book store. To determine the
amount to be included in the book sponsorship letter, the student must provide
a book list fromthe college/university with the costs of the texts. This is the
amount that will be reflected in the sponsorship letter. A sponsorship letter
sets up an account at the bookstore. In order to get your books, you must sign
an invoice at the bookstore which they will send to our office.
2014 - 2015 DEPOSITS
Deposits will continue to be the 25th of each month. If the deposit day falls on the
weekend, the deposit will be made the Friday before the weekend. For students
without bank accounts, the cheque will be mailed on the 25th of each month.

TD Canada Trust or Bank of Montreal

The final deposit will be made on March 25th, 2015 for April 2015. If your

college/university that indicates the last day of classes, in order to be
eligible for assistance beyond April 30th.

your information, the student allowance deposits for September 2014 will

STUDENT PLACEMENT / PRACTIUM FORMS
Due to the fact that there have been duplications in the student
allowance and paid placements, students are now required to
complete this form before going on placement. If you are going on
a placement please request this form from our office.

TUITION PAYMENTS
It is the students responsibility to ensure their tuition invoice
reaches our office. This information is available only to the student on
the student portal of the college/university. Tuition sponsorship letters and
payments are sent to the college/university when the student submits their
tuition invoice/information to our office. If our office has to pay a late fee
because you did not submit your information to us by the due date
required, that late fee will be deducted from your student allowance.
