TORONTO - The Canadian Hero Fund is honoured to announce its 2014 scholarship

recipients with the total amount of scholarships provided surpassing $50,000.

The scholarships were awarded to eleven children of Canadian Forces personnel who
have been killed in the service of their country. The scholarships, which help defray the
cost of post-secondary education, serve to recognize the enormous sacrifice made by
Canadian Forces members and provide valuable support to their families.

This is the 5th consecutive year the Fund has awarded scholarships. Since 2010, the Fund
has allocated over $175,000 to family members of fallen Canadian soldiers.

The 2014 scholarship announcement coincides with the launch of the Funds annual 11
for 11 fundraising campaign. Last year, the campaign had its most successful fundraising
outcome to date. On commenting on this years campaign, president Timothy Peters said
that he hopes that the 2014 campaign surpasses last years tremendous success.

The 11 for 11 campaign urges Canadians to make an $11 contribution to the scholarship
fund in the lead up to November 11th. Using social media and outreach in elementary and
secondary schools, the campaign engages young Canadians and encourages them to do
11 acts of kindness for our service members during the first 11 days of November.

The campaign also reaches out to Canadians from coast to coast via television and radio
advertisements featuring the song Highway of Heroes by Canadian rock group The
Trews.
