Valeries Message
So begins another
school year. As a volunteer
at Cutler Elementary School,
I enjoyed helping children
and their parents find their
classrooms. Many had
smiling faces as they
approached the new school
year. I heard very few tears
from the new
kindergarteners. Wow! Great
things are going to happen at
this school.
I hope all of you who are
teaching have a fabulous
school year! If you run into
problems, there are retired
teachers who can provide
support in different ways.
Some of us like to help in the
classroom. Others of us
prefer to give suggestions or
ideas from our years of
practical experiences. Still
others can help by the
fellowship of monthly DKG
Sigma Chapter meetings.
We all like to hear about
Common Core challenges.
Our first meeting will be on
Saturday, September 6
th
at
11 am in Selma. We will be
enjoying the flavors of China
Gardens by the SaveMart off
of Floral Avenue. More
details should follow in this
newsletter. I look forward to
seeing you all there so I can
hear stories about the travels
you have taken this summer
or the new students you are
getting to know.

Grants-In-Aid Donation Form
One of our goals each year is to raise funds to assist teachers, both experienced and new, with
financial aid through grants. Four grants: Student Teacher Award ($100), Membership Grant ($200),
Recruitment Grant ($500) and Classroom Teacher Grand ($100-$200) will be available. If you would
like to donate to the Grants-In-Aid fund, please fill out this form and return it to the treasurer. We
will be giving a gift basket away at each meeting this year to one lucky member. Suggested donation
is $5 per meeting. For each donation you will be eligible to win a gift basket. Donations will be
accepted at each meeting or you may mail them to the chapter treasurer. (Need not be present to win)
Chapter meetings will be held September, October, November, December, February, April, and May.
