Descriptive information
Location
The Henderson molybdenum mine is a large
underground molybdenum mine west of the town of
Empire in Clear Creek County, Colorado, USA.
Approximately 42 miles west of Denver.

2
3
Ore deposit
The Henderson mine is a porphyry molybdenum deposit
with molybdenite as the primary sulfide mineral.

Processes and facilities
The Henderson operation consists of a large block-cave
underground mining complex that feeds a 32,000 metric
ton-per-day concentrator. A majority of the molybdenum
concentrate produced at the Henderson mine is shipped to
our Fort Madison, Iowa, processing facility.

Background
The Henderson mine has been in operation since 1976
4
Mine Description and Conveyor belts
The mine was designed as a high capacity operation, and
the mine infrastructure is engineered to support production
in excess of 30,000 tons per day (10 million tpy).
Henderson Mine is one of the 10 largest underground
mines in the world today.
There are 3 conveyor belts in Henderson: PC1, PC2 and
PC3.

Ore is transportated with Large capacity LHDs(10 TONS PER SCOOP)
On the 7065 truck level, ore is loaded from large ore chutes at the
bottom of the ore passes into 80 ton side dump underground haul
trucks
Ore is loaded onto PC1, it is transported 1.6 km (1mi)
Ore is transported 16.1km (10mi)
Idealized cross section of the Henderson
Mine infrastructure.

The entire journey from the bottom of the crusher to the mill stockpile takes
about 2 hours.
