Comprehension Strategy: Make
Predictions
-Making predictions when you read will help set a
purpose for reading and increases your understanding
of the text. You can confirm, or agree with your
prediction, or revise, change your prediction, based on
new information as you read.
- Use context clues, descriptive details, pictures, and
events.

83-84. Also refer to The RWW book page 140.

Comprehension Skill: Point of View
-In fiction, a narrator tells the story. Who the narrator is
determines the story's point of view.
-When a narrator who is not one of the characters tells the story,
the story has a third-person point of view.
-Third-person point of view lets readers know what each
character is thinking

Suffixes
Suffixes are the word parts attached to the end of
the base words.

unfamiliar word.

-ion, -tion, the state of education
-ize to make summarize
