MEDIA RELEASE

TEHAN MUST SPEAK UP FOR HIS LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs Joel Fitzgibbon has spoken in
Parliament today about the impact on Western Victoria of the Abbott Governments
attack on the Renewable Energy Target.

Mr Fitzgibbon told the Parliament that his visit to Ararat last week helped him to
better understand the impact investment uncertainty is having in Wannon.

He used the Parliament to appeal to the Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan, to more
forcefully stand up to the Prime Minister and his Cabinet.

Last week I met with the Mayors of Ararat, Pyrenees and Northern Grampians, they
all nominated the Governments attack on the RET as a major concern to their Local
Government Areas, Mr Fitzgibbon said.

Right across rural Australia wind farms are bringing investment, jobs, good
environmental outcomes and most importantly, off-farm income for struggling
farmers.
