The Renaissance Faire

1. Circus Stella, 10:00, Harlequin Stage- The theme of the event was to entertain and
amuse the viewer with acrobatics. The many stunts included tightrope walking and
juggling fire. The characters were acrobats Jana and Dexter. They were married
together and performed acrobatics together. What I learned from this event is that
acrobatics were used a lot to entertain during the renaissance period. The
performances were so entertaining that people wanted that entertainment to be heard
around the renaissance.
2. Lionville Play, 11:30, Globe Stage- The theme of the event was a competition of the
middle schools to see which one was better at what they performed. The characters
were the people from Lionville Middle School that were in the play. What I learned
from this event was the people had lots of plays during the renaissance in which they
turned into competitions. Almost every play in the renaissance had someone singing.
The point of the singing is to show emotion and power towards the act.
3. Ultimate Jousting, 2:00, Bosworth Field- The theme of the event was to entertain the
viewers with a jousting match. The match was meant to show a popular sport in the
renaissance. All of the jousts in the renaissance were held to show superiority to the
opponent and who was better. The characters were the jousters and the royal queen
and her people watched. The queen had her royal assistants and her supervisors. The
queen was very heavily guarded by guards and assistants. I didnt learn anything from
this event. The event was not very informative other than the fact that it was to
entertain. The jousting did not have much to inform about except for how to joust.
