Assignment Criteria

Module Code and Name: GAME40250
Assignment Name or Number: Rapid Games Prototyping

Aim of the Assignment

In this module you will be creating two prototype games using the Unity
Engine. These prototype games are based off an initial set of criteria
upon which further gameplay is required to be added using a
combination of engine components and script.

PROTOTYPE ONE Tilting Board worth 25%

Dev Diary worth 5%
Your developer diary should contain the research and design notes for your
game. These notes should include brief descriptions of any games whose
gameplay elements are similar to some of your own, level design sketches
and details on how your game mechanics work. You should also discuss
briefly any problems (engine or script based) you found during the
development of your game and how you overcame them.
[5%]

Game worth 20%
You are expected to enhance the game prototype given to you in lesson using
script and engine components. The core feature of the prototype is a tilting
base upon which a ball rolls under physical simulation. User inputs are used
to tilt the base and direct control of the ball is not permitted except as a
temporary power-up. You may adjust any other aspect of the basic prototype
or add features including, but not limited to, the size of the tilting base, the
size of the ball, the layout of obstacles on the base, the number of levels, the
scoring system, dynamic ball physics (mass changes, friction, gravity etc.),
power-ups etc.

Marking Criteria worth 20%

Cohesive set of game mechanics [5%]

Demonstrates a good use of engine components [3%]

Demonstrates a good understanding of script [5%]

Contains new/extended features [5%]

Game has polish and is enjoyable [2%]
