Factor In, Factor Out

Factor In: Artisana Coconut Butter
Factor Out: Almond Butter

Almond butter has revolutionized the old peanut butter, along with cashew butter, and
other nut spreads. What about coconut? We all have heard of coconut water and the craze
about that being so healthy these days. Swap your almond butter for some Artisana
Coconut Butter, pured from whole coconut meat into a thick spread. This stuff is so
natural, and we all know natural is the way to go. The only ingredient is organic raw
coconutthats it! Artisana Coconut Butter contains a whopping 5 grams of fiber and
only 2 net grams of carbs. If anything is going to leave you feeling sexy in your summer
suit, you cant go wrong with this. Additionally, coconut butter contains youth enhancing,
glowing properties for your skin. It can be used as a skin lotion that is highly
moisturizing and enhances the elasticity in our skin!

Factor In: Scharffen Berger Cocao Nibs
Factor Out: Chocolate Chips

We all experience our chocolate cravings during that oh-so-pleasant time of the month.
Before you reach your hand to go grab those M & Ms or chocolate chips out of your
pantry, freeze for one second and try this crunch just once. Scharffen Bergers Cocao
Nibs are roasted cocoa beans separated from the husks into little bits that can add a slight
chocolate-y flavor and bite to your baking or sweet dishes. Enjoy this snack without
feeling guilty, for it has less than 1 gram of sugar in each 6 oz serving! As natural as they
come, you don't even have to refer to this as chocolate if you don't want to admit it to
yourself. It is pure cocao and the spirit of chocolate.

Factor In: Ground Flaxseed
Factor Out: Granola

Craving the crunch in your yogurt parfait but tired of all the calories that come along with
granola? Try sprinkling ground flaxseed in your yogurt and you can have the health and
crunch all in one bite. Not only does flaxseed contain lots of omega-3 fatty acids, but a
good amount of fiber to aid in the digestion of your food. As for your beauty benefits
ladies, (and men!) the fatty acids in flaxseed promote healthy hair, skin, and nails. Its
definitely a plus that this food cannot only improve your health, but the way you look and
feel as well! So, next time you reach for the granola think twice and take out the flaxseed
to sprinkle on your yogurt.

Want the perfect snack to grab with you on the go? This summer, while your busy sitting
on the beach without having your refrigerator ajar, just grab a pack of Crunchies Freeze-
Dried Fruit and youll be able to get everything you wanted from a piece of fruitand
more! Compared to dried fruit, nothing is added to Crunchies. Water is actually
dehydrated from the fruit in order to preserve them and get that crunchy texture.
Sometimes we think that just because its called dried fruit, it has the same nutritional
value as biting into an apple. However, there are many hidden caloric consequences
behind a serving of dried fruit. For a little snack, topping to your yogurt, or extra bite in
your salad, Factor In Crunchies Freeze-Dried Fruit. There are such varieties to choose
from, there is no way youll get bored with these! Plus, at the end of the day your tummy
will thank you!

Factor In: Truvia
Factor Out: Splenda

Coffee isnt sweet enough? Yogurt is a little bit too tangy? We all know that a packet or
two of sweetener can do the trick (of course without sacrificing the calories!). However,
this summer, Factor Out Splenda and Factor In Truvia for a more natural, non guilty
sweet taste. Whereas Splenda is a chemical derivative of sugar (sucralose), Truvia comes
from the stevia plant, which is grown in the ground in a natural state. In todays society, it
is recommended that you consume foods in the closest version to what they began as. The
less additives, the better. Whether you want to sweeten your fruit, whip up a healthy
smoothie, or make a cocktail at the beach, try Truvia and you will not be disappointed.

Did You Know?

Did you know that tart cherries contain chemicals that may relieve pain better than
ibuprofen and aspirin? Tart cherries are such powerful antioxidants that they were
nicknamed, a Red Hot Super Fruit by the Red Report of the Cherry Marketing Institute.
One study from the University of Michigan found that a cherry-enriched diet reduced
inflammation markers in animals by up to 50 percent. Other research has shown that
drinking eight ounces of tart cherry juice daily for four weeks significantly reduced
important markers of inflammation in overweight and obese adults.

This is something that
can significantly help the public, and especially those struggling with chronic conditions
such as gout, arthritis, obesity, and heart disease. The consumption of tart cherries has
been linked to cardiovascular benefits, such as reduced cholesterol levels, total body
weight, and the belly fat often related with risk of heart disease. Tart cherries are also
proven to reduce some risk factors of Type 2 diabetes. Just eating 20 cherries a day could
improve inflammatory and headache pain. So, before you dig to find your painkillers in
your purse, first try to have a few cherries to ease pain the more natural way. Tanya
recommends that cherries are a great supplement to your diet, however you need to be
careful of how much you have because of the high sugar content they contain. A few here
and there can definitely help to do the trick!

Did you know that a parsley sprig could be used as a natural breath freshener? Its high
chlorophyll levels actually help to diminish the odor of garlic breath when it is chewed
fresh. Dont just consider this herb a garnish, because it contains loads of health benefits
that should not go unnoticed. Parsley contains volatile oils and flavonoids that both
contribute positive health effects. The volatile oils in this herb have shown to slow down
tumor formation in the lungs and help to neutralize certain types of carcinogens. The
flavonoids that parsley contains act as antioxidant nutrients and help prevent oxygen
damage to cells. In conjunction with these nutrients, parsley also contains high amounts
of Vitamins A and C, great natural antioxidants. Two tablespoons of parsley contain as
much as 153% of the recommended daily allowance of Vitamin K, which is a huge help
in strengthening the composition of our bones and preventing the buildup of calcium in
our tissues.
So, next time youre spanning the grocery store for some fresh herbs, pickup a few sprigs
of parsley to incorporate into your dinner recipe. For only 3 calories a serving, you can
use as much or as little as youd like. Tanya recommends using lots of parsley next time
you make tabbouleh for a summer gatheringyou cant go wrong!
