OPERATIONS ORDER No. SBM-2014-010
RULES AND GUIDELINES GOVERNING HOLDERS OF SECTION
47(a)(2) VISA UPON THE EXPIRATIN OF PEZA-AUTHORIZED PERIOD
OF EMPLOYMENT

Consistent with and in compliance to the directive of the Secretary of
the Department of Justice (DOJ) in a letter (LML-L-22A14-175) to the
Bureau of Immigration (BI) dated 22 January 2014 on the matter of visas
issued under the Section 47(a)(2), Commonwealth Act No. 613, as
amended, the following rules and guidelines shall be strictly observed and
implemented:
1. Foreign nationals who are holders of Section 47(a)(2) visa shall not
remain in the Philippines beyond the period of employment
authorized by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA);

2. While in the Philippines, such foreign nationals shall not be allowed
to change their status to any other non-immigrant status without
first departing from the country;

3. Those whose periods of employment have already expired as
authorized by the PEZA shall not be allowed to downgrade their
Section 47(a)(2) visa but should be ordered to leave the country at
the earliest possible time.

All previous issuances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed
and/or modified accordingly.

This Order shall take effect immediately.
