HOLOGRAMS
A three-dimensional image formed by the interference of light
beams from a laser or other coherent light source.
A photograph of an interference pattern that, when suitably
illuminated, produces a three-dimensional image.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
A holograms captures the interference pattern between two or
more beams of coherent light.
One beam is shone directly on the recording medium and acts
as a reference to the light scattered from the illuminated scene.

HOW DOES IT WORK (CONT.)
Laser light is much purer than the ordinary light in a torch beam.
In a torch beam, all the light waves are random and jumbled up.
Light in a torch beam runs along any old how, like schoolchildren
racing down a corridor when the bell goes for home time.
But in a laser, the light waves are Coherent: they all travel
precisely in step, like soldiers marching on parade.
