Introduction to Computers (Summary)

Definition :-
A computer is an electronic device that process data and convert it into useful information.
Two Main Groups :- There are 2 main groups of computer :-
1) Computers for Individual Uses
Workstations
Desktop Computers
Notebook
Handheld Computers
Tablet Computers
Smart Phones

2) Computers for Organizations
Network Servers
Mini-Computers
Mainframes
Super Computers

Parts of Computer :-
There are 4 parts of computer :-
1)Hardware :- Electronic Device in the computer and anything that can be touched.
2)Software :- Set of instruction that make computer perform a task. Also called program.
3)User :- The person operating the computer.
4)Data :- Raw facts or figures.

Information Processing Cycle :-
There are 4 steps involved in the cycle of processing data :-
1)Input :- Computer accepts data from some source i.e user or maybe program.
2)Processing :- Processes data based on the instruction from user or program.
3)Output :- Results of the input process which maybe a text, graphics or sound from speaker. Its
an optional step.
4)Storage :- Permanently stores data into any storage medium. Its also an optional step.

Essential Computer Hardware, it includes processing devices, Memory devices,
input output devices and storage devices.
Essential Computer Software, it includes Application software and System
Software.
