Paper Mache 10th October

How it started: Today Ethan asked me today if I could read books to him about the
planets. Ethan told me the milky way is a whole family of stars called a galaxy, asteroids are
rocks, Jupiter has a humungus storm its 100 big. I asked him if he would like to come to the
ofce to see what books we are able to nd. We found numbers of books on planets throughout
our solar system . So we sat in the reading corner reading the books and looking at the pictures,
as we sat down Huruni came over interested in the subject we were discussing, Can I look
Anna? Ethan said yes thats ok and recited what we had been discussing to Huruni. Hurini and
ethan asked if they could make planets. I asked them how would they like to make them ? Paint?
Build? What about paper mache balloons whats that they said , I explained what it was and set
up the table after nding all the things we needed as we were setting up other children wanted to
know what we were doing and wanted to join in. We mixed the mixture of our and water together,
I explained that it can get quite messy so we need to be wearing smocks , I demonstrated how to
make one then just observed . The children were quite eager to paint them straight away however
I explained it could take up to two days for them to properly dry out.


Maddison asked me for a balloon, but did not want to make a planet out of it she wanted to
make a person, I suggested to her that we make a scarecrow as there were a lot of crows
hanging around the yard and it just might scare them off

A few days later the paper mache was dry enough to paint on. On arrival to the
centre Huruni and Ethan asked me if there planets were dry, I said yes , I had
the table all ready for when they arrived equipped with all the colours I believe
they would need to make their planets. They immediately when to the table
and started.

sandpit, now he has decided to go to the
park, then a pole exploded and all this
water came out
