Multi-Genre Research Project

Step 1: Pick a character

Step 2: Choose 4 genres to write. The research paper is REQUIRED.
-Newspaper article -Facebook page
-Song lyrics/song -Diary entries (3 minimum)
-Poem -Letter
-Twitter Feed -Research paper
Step 3: Choose a topic for your research paper. Think about how it would relate to your
chosen character. If you choose Aunt Alexandra, you might research and write about
womens fashion during the 1930s. Or, if you choose Atticus, you might research and write
about single parenting during the 1930s. You should choose a topic that interests you and
pertains to your character.
**Make sure you pick something that you are able to find reliable research on and write 3-
5 pages about.**
Step 4: Think of a creative way to bind your genres and research paper together.
Requirements for genres:
Newspaper Article: Title, picture, date, author name, 3-5 well written paragraphs.
Facebook page: Facebook format, character name, friends list, photos/albums,
likes/interests, wall with 3-5 posts from the character and 2-3 posts from friends. Posts
should be well thought out and written in sentences.
Song Lyrics: Song should have 3 original stanzas, a chorus, and refrain. 3 literary devices
should be labeled.
Diary Entries: Date, signed by character, believable diction, 2-3 paragraphs of well
thought out ideas. 3 entry minimum.
Poem: 15-20 well thought out lines. 3 literary devices labeled.
Letter: Who it is addressed to, who it is from, date, and 3-5 well thought out paragraphs
Twitter Feed: Twitter format, picture of character, bio, 15-20 tweets/subtweets/tags
Research Paper: 3-5 pages written and cited in the MLA format
