3.1 Estimating sums and differences:

3.3 Estimating Products and Quotients
*When multiplying find round to nearest whole number and multiply.
*When dividing round to nearest whole number, find compatible numbers, and divide as usual.

3.4 Multiplying decimals.
*Use grids.
*Multiply. Add the number of decimals places in the numbers you are multiplying and then
place that amount in your product. EXAMPLE .04 (2 decimals) x 1.2 (1 decimal) it is like 4 x12
= 48 but add 3 decimals to the left .048.

3.6 Dividing a decimal by a whole number
*Use same division strategies but bring up the decimal point and continue to divide
*Add decimal and zeros to the dividend and follow step above.

3.7 Dividing decimals
*Multiply the divisor and the dividend by the same power of ten to make the divisor a whole
number. (move the decimal to make the divisor a whole number and move the dividend decimal
the same amount of places).
