Topic Objectives:
1. You will be able to identify the three kinds of hardware display devices used with
the 3500 monitoring rack
2. You will be able to explain the different characteristics of the available display
devices

Laboratory Activities:
1. Look up information on the display devices
2. Configure the 3500/93 LCD Display unit

Laboratory Activity 1: Look up information on the display devices
This exercise will continue your experience with monitor specifications, and increase
your knowledge regarding the use of the display devices.
A. Use the monitor specifications provided in this course manual to answer the following
questions.
1. What are the software requirements for the three display units?

2. Which of the displays has LED indication of alarms?

Laboratory Activity 2: Configure the 3500/93 LCD Display unit
A. This exercise does not require the 3500/93 unit to be used, but you will not be able to
display your configuration if it is not available.
1. Start the Configuration Software, and connect to the rack using the protocol specified
by the Instructor. Upload the configuration from the rack.
2. If it is not already placed in your rack configuration, place a 3500/93 3500 Display
in an empty slot in your rack configuration screen.
3. Select Options on this module, and configure it as follows:
create a Gaps group, and place all the Gap values from the 3500/40 and 3500/42
monitors into this group
create a 1X Amplitudes group, and place all these values from the 3500/40 and
3500/42 monitors into this group
create a Relay Status group, and place all four relay conditions into this group
change the scan rate to fifteen seconds, and place the unit into Scan Mode as the
Default Screen Mode
4. If you have a 3500/93 Display module connected to your rack, download your
configuration to it, and then observe the results on your display unit. Also, use the
display menu controls to change your display to Text Mode, and observe the results.
If you do not have the display unit, have the Instructor look over your configuration to
make sure you have completed it properly.
