School Site: Cleveland Elementary School Date: 10/6/14
Activity Observed: Chasing, Fleeing, & Dodging Grade/Age Level: 4th

DIRECTIONS: You will observe many children performing many different kinds of skills. Select 8 (or as
many as you can) different tasks and describe how the high skilled students and the low skilled students are
performing.

Task Higher Skilled Lower Skilled
1
Run

Students were able to pick their
feet up more quickly to cover
more ground in less amount of
time.
Students were not as quick with
their feet and do not pick up their
knees as high. They take shorter
strides when fleeing taggers.
2
Skip

Students are more consistent with
their skipping and are able to
move faster and skip higher.
Students were less fluid with their
motions and often take breaks
between skips. They were not as
fast off their feet and do not move
as high with their skips.
3
Slide

Students are able to get into good
sliding position quicker and slide
their feet further.
Students often stand up straight
while attempting to slide which is
not as effective. They do not
reposition themselves as fast to
make the next slide.
4
Tag

Students had great hand eye
coordination and prediction skills
to make more contact with their
tags.
Students reach out to tag earlier
and therefore often miss their
intended target.
5
Dodge

Students have better agility and
make quicker movements to dodge
their opponents.
Students do not have a good
change of direction and is more
easily tagged.
